● Explaination -

- As terminal hydrogen in 1-butyne is acidic, it reacts with ammoniacal Cu2Cl2 to give red ppt of copper-1-butynide.

2CH3-C≡CH + Cu2Cl2 ---> 2CH3-C≡CCu + 2HCl

- 2-butyne due to absence of terminal acidic hydrogen, doesnt give this ppt.
