CAN WE HOPE FOR A CORRUPTION FREE INDIA
Even though it appears to be an utopian dream, we can always hope for a corruption free India. With this hope burning in us, we can all try to reform ourselves. Even if half the job of freeing India from corruption is achieved in the next twenty five years, it would indeed go a long way in cleaning up the mess that we find ourselves in today.
Most of all, the police and the bureaucracy must clean up their departments immediately. So also must the politicians perform a cleansing act on a war footing. These three are the biggest fountainheads of India's corruption. Simultaneously, retired members of the judiciary must head a departmental office in each district of the country, where people can freely report corruption cases without fear or favour. This office must mete out exemplary punishment to the guilty to prevent or reduce such incidents from occurring in the future. The state headquarters of this Anti-Corruption Department should be in the state capitals, with an overall headquarter at New Delhi; it should function independently like the Election Commission of India.
The ordinary people of this country should also stop indulging in, aiding or abetting or encouraging in corrupt practices. This kind of mass movement will make things work positively and help in ridding the country of the malaise of corruption.
