Things to Take Care while travelling in Sikkim :
Reach NJP railway station (Try to reach NJP early in the morning). From NJP, either you can shared taxi or Private taxi. Shared taxis are available for different places like as Darjeeling, Gangtok, Kalimpong etc. Shared taxi cost almost 250/- for Gangtok and 200 /- for Darjeeling. Private taxis cost between 1500 /- to 4000 /-. If you are uncomfortable in shared taxis than go for private taxi but if you wanted to take glimpse of local culture and on budget trip than prefer shared taxis.
West Bengal permit car is not allowed to go beyond Deorali near Gangtok. The travel time from NJP to Deorali is almost 4 hours.
From Deorali, you have to catch a cab to MG marg or Hotel. It will cost around 200 /- per car and maximum 4 persons are allowed(If you are more than 4, hire another car). Note one thing there is fixed cost for locals for fixed distance so bargain accordingly.
if you wanted to stay in good hotels then prefer M.G. marg and if you are on budget trip than opt for development area and Lal bazaar for cheaper hotels.
Taxis cast 10 /- per person from Lal bazaar or development are to MG marg.
For lachen - lachung tour, you have to reach north Sikkim cab stand. This tour cost almost 3000 /- per person (including accommodation and food) for 3D/2N.
Tour to north Sikkim is very hectic and also you will be climbing to 17000 ft. so aged person and child less than 5 year are not advisable.
Carry passport size photographs and valid ID.
Generally Zero point in yumthang valley is not included in the tour, but you can also negotiate with the cab driver for almost 500/- to 1000 /-. Note you should not negotiate with tour operator because they will charge hefty amount for this.
There are many package available for Gangtok local sightseeing so choose accordingly to you. 10 point half day costs almost 1000 /- per person.There are many sight-seen packages like as 3 Point Half Day, 7 Point Half Day, 10 Point Half Day, 10 Point Full Day, Mixed Point etc.
