let 4 men can complete work in x days,

then, x= 6÷4×12

=>x = 18 days.

since, 6 men already completed half work in 6 days.

then, 4 men complete remaining work in,

18 days[ total time 4 men take ] -6 days [ 6men took time to complete half work ] = 12 days

Hence, 4 men will take excess of 12 days to complete that remaining work
