Six particles are located at the vertices of a regular hexagon of side 'a'. At t = 0 they all start moving simultaneously with constant speed 'v'. The first particle is heading for the second, the second particle is heading for the third, and so on.
At t = a\2v acceleration of each particle is?

Answer:

Concentrate on two particles adjacent to each other. The displacement of one particle with respect to other =a

Now, the relative velocity of one particle with respect to other towards it is:

v r = v - v \cos60 = v -  \frac{v}{2} =  \frac{v}{2}

Relative velocity = Total displacement/Time taken

 \frac{v}{2}  =  \frac{a}{t}

t =  \frac{2a}{v}
