Six paving stones are arranged in a square array as shown in the figure. If each stone
has a length 20 cm greater than its width, find

Answer:
Solution:- The dimensions of a stone are x & 2x+20
width = x and length =x+20
one side of the square formed by the six stones =3x
and the other side = 2(x+20)=2x+40
Then 3x=2x+40➡ 3x-2x=40 ➡x=40 ;
So (a) The dimensions of each are x=40cm, x+20= 40+20=60cm...❗
(b) The area of the ground space =6(40×60)=6×2400
=14400sq.cm ie. 1.44sq.meters....‼
(cl The perimeter of the ground space = 2(3×40+2×60)↩
➡2(120+120)=2×240=480cm➡4.8 meters //
