India and China have had historically one of the best neighbor relations. The two are great nations and have never fought major wars. Sino-Sikh War was fought between the Sikh empire and the Chinese empire in 1841–42. After that was the brief Sino-Indian War of 1962. The two huge nations have had a lot of friendly interactions. Buddhism was the most famous export from India to China. Over centuries a lot of visitors have come to explore India.
After India became independent and China ended its civil war, India had China have had border disputes. It is mainly in the Aksai Chin area and Arunachal Pradesh, what they call South Tibet. Tibet issues has been a major difference between India and China. India provided humanitarian support to Dalai Lama and granted him and his supporters asylum. China doesn’t appreciate it. India has even recently agreed that Tibet is a part of China but only encourages political and human rights for Tibetans. China sees it as a ruse for Tibetan separatism. In the recent decades China and India have grown greatly economically. The border dispute is not likely to lead to a war as both nations are only interested in resolving the dispute peacefully.
The two nations understand that it’s not sensible for the two nations to go to war. There is definitely hope in India-China relationship. I consider it to be the biggest positive in our relationship. There are also risks. If the leaders of the two nations are conscious of the risks and danger, it is possible for both the nations to to stay out of war.
