Six social reformers of India are:-

1)Raja Ram Mohan Roy :- Raja Ram Mohan Roy (1772-1833) was a social reformer.He is also known as the "Father of Indian Renaissance".
He laid the foundation of all principal movements -social,religious and political in India to fight for the advancement of the country. He worked for Hinduism and denounced casteism, child marriage,purdah,polygamy etc.He founded the Brahmo Samaj.

2)Swami Dayanand Saraswati :- Swami Dayanand Saraswati(1824-1882) founded the Attachment Samaj in Punjab in the year 1875.
The Arya Samaj believed in the unity of God, encouraged monotheism and discouraged polytheism and idol worship. The Arya Samaj criticised child marriage,casteism and polygamy.

3)Keshab Chandra Sen :- Keshab Chandra Sen(1838-1884) started the Prarthana Samaj in Maharashtra in 1869.Justice Mahadev Govind Ranade(1842-1901) was the most important reformer of Prarthana Samaj. He established the Widow Remarriage Association and Deccan Educational Society.

4)Swami Vivekananda :- Swami Vivekananda's real name was Narendranath Dutta (1863-1902) was the disciple of Ramakrishna Paramhansa.He established the Ramakrishna Mission. He wanted to create a sense of love for the country among the youth,infuse in them self confidence and develop spirituality in their minds. He wanted to unite the Indians.

5)Anne Besant :- Anne Besant was an Irish lady who opened the Theosophical Society at Adyar in Madras in 1885.It was originally founded in New York in 1875. She wanted to revive a sense of self respect and pride for India's past among the Indians.

6)Sir Syed Ahmed Khan :- Sir Syed Ahmed Khan(1870-1898) was the central figure behind the Aligarh Movement. He believed that the best means of social awakening was through education.
