"Spirogyra"" is a kind of ""Green Algae"" belonging to the Thallophyta division. There are no specific parts such as leaves, systems, etc.

It contains chlorophyll and is therefore naturally autotrophic.

It contains spiral and thin, unbranched cylindrical cell chains.

The cell wall consists of a pectin outer layer and a cellulose inside layer.

The cell wall's inner surface is lined with a thin cytoplasm layer.

The spiral-shaped chloroplasts are integrated in this ""layer of cytoplasm"".

The number of strands of chloroplast can vary from 1 to 16 in each cell.

Each strand of chloroplast has so many circular shape bodies which are called as pyrenoids, which are responsible for the production of starch.
