in the figure mentioned,  cathode is the -ve electode, while anode is the +ve electrode

● Electrolysis of NaCl -

In electrolysis of molten NaCl, sodium is deposited at cathode and chlorine is released at anode.

Half-cell reactions are as follows -

At anode,  2Cl- → Cl2 + 2e-

At cathode, Na+ + e- → Na

Complete cell reaction is given as -

2Na+ + Cl2 → 2NaCl
