Yes, a slice off bread can decompose due to Fungi.

The air around us carry microorganisms including bacteria, fungi (sporophyte) and many more. When this air comes in contact with bread, the spore fungi lands on it and starts growing.

As we know fungi are heterotrophs and get their food from environment which is why the landed spores start feeding on bread and eventually the slice of bread decompose.
