* Sliding Friction - The friction that acts between an object and a surface when the object is sliding over that surface is known as 'Sliding Friction'.

* Rolling Friction - The force of friction resisting the (rolling) motion when a body rolls on a surface is known as 'Rolling Friction.

* Static Friction - The self-adjusting (up to a limit) force of friction that exists between a stationary object and the surface on which it has been kept is known as 'Static Friction'.
