2x + 3y. = 8 ---------(1)

1/7x + 4y = 57 /7

(x + 28y) 7= 57/7

x + 28 y. = 57 -----------(2)

(1) ---------2x + 3y. = 8

(2)×2----- 2x + 56y= 114

By elimination method ,

-53y = 106

y = -106 /53 .

y = -2

and sub/: y = -2 in (1)

2x +3 (-2) = 8

2x -6 = 8
