4x - 3y = 8 .......... 1
18x - 3y = 29........... 2
- + -
__________
-14x = -21

x= 21/14
x = 3/2

substitute x value in eqn 1

4 (3/2) - 3y = 8
6 - 3y = 8
-3y = 8-6
y = - 2/3

4x-3y=8........(1)
18x-3y=29....(2)
subtract (1) from (2)
    18x-3y=29
 (-) 4x-3y=8
     -    +    -
     --------------
      14x=21

then x=3/2
substitute this in eq. (1)
4(3/2)-3y=8
y= -2/3
