Ans1-yes, coz while his comrades died he was only one to survive. He was hit by a bullet in his chest.
Ans2-he couldn't recall what happened to him that caused the small pain in his chest coz morning was arriving nd he was feeling feeble nd weak due to his pain nd death was near to him.
