smell of burning wool and Silk is similar. give reason for the following question.

Silk is formed of animal protein secretion of silkworms. Hence , when burnt it smells like hair , which is also composed of animal protein. Cotton is mostly cellulosre and when burnt smell like paper which is also made of plant cellulose.

The statement mentioned in the question that the smell of the burning silk and burning cotton almost same, is not completely false.

Because the basic component of any Silk fibre is protein and the basic component of any cotton fibre is cellulose.

So the burning smell of this two different substances will be different from each other.

that's why the burning smells of silk and cotton will be different.
