Smooth surfaces are those surfaces which has a negligible amount of friction on their surface or lesser surface drag. Some times to make a surface smooth external force of lubrication are applied to reduce the friction among-st the sliding surfaces.

  • The examples of smooth surfaces are marble slab, granite slab (well-polished), mirror surface and glossy tiles.

Rough surfaces are those surfaces which have abrasion and high sliding friction preventing them from sliding fluidly, thereby termed as rough surfaces like sand paper, cement road, new tires and other objects with high sliding friction.
