Another woman by Ms Imtiaz Dharkar is a poem which brings out the cruel state of poor Indian women.

In the poem the kerosene is thrown by the woman as she is not loved or cared for by her mother-in-law and husband.

Reason for throwing kerosene

The woman wants to commit suicide as her mother-in-law is not happy with her, may be for dowry. She scolds her badly which is seen in the lines of the poem

"The usual words came and beat

their wings against her: the money spent,

curses heaped upon her parents,

who had sent her out

to darken other people's doors."

The husband also does not support or love her, which can be seen in the lines

"When the man came home

she did not look into his face...

Nothing gave her the right

to speak."
