It is important because it allows us to understand our past, which in turn allows us to understand the present. If we wish to know how and why our world is the way it is today, then we'll have to take a look at History. Which is basically looking back in the past. We'll know a lot about the ancient times and will be able to compare the past and present which will give us thoughts about the future.
