social evils still exists in Indian society
The motivations for those that champion policies that result in “evil” are usually not themselves evil. They are usually motivated by the need for safety, security and position. They want to influence the world in a way that ensures that their needs will be met to the greatest extent possible. This often means that they promote their own needs at the expense of the needs of others. This is not new. The many thousand-year-old institution of slavery deprives many others of their needs in order that the few have their needs met. So those that do not have their needs met view the result as evil.
In our modern society, safety, security and position are distilled into one convenient vehicle—money. Those who have more money have more safety, security and position. If they have sufficient excess money, they can use it to influence the society in a way that ensures that their needs will be met to the greatest extent possible. They can buy votes by purchasing influence. They can then buy the people’s representatives to do their bidding. They don’t intend to do evil, and in fact, they will do some good by promoting enterprises that benefit all so long as it only takes a small bit of their money to do so. They just intend to influence the world in a way that ensures that their needs will be met to the greatest extent possible.
