Land use pattern in India .
1. About 45 percent of land is used as net sown areas I.e farming
2. About 22 percent of land is under forest and rest of land is used for various purposes such as housing, recreation and industries
The main reason that forest land has not increased since 1960-61 IS that is an increase in population andd subseqent increase in demand for resources.
