Sodium and phosphorus are both very reactive elements.Why is sodium stored in kerosine and phosphorus in water

sodium is very reactive element and it reacts vigourously with water and air to form oxides and hydoxides and it doesn't react with kerosene so it is stored in kerosene similarly for phosphorous it reacts with air but not much with water so it is stored in water
