Sodium's electronic configuration is (2,8,1).
Sodium has 1 electron in its outer shell and it is easy to lose 1 electron than gaining 7 more electrons to obtain noble electronic configuration.

But in case of chlorine , it's electronic configuration is (2,8,7) .
For chlorine it is easy to gain 1 electron than losing all the 7 electrons.

Therefore chlorine has more electron affinity and sodium has comparatively lower electron affinity.
