To find : The ratio of their pressures.

solution : as it is given that Soft board pin of head area 1000 times that of the tip.

let area of the tip is A

so area of head of the soft board = 1000A

now pressure exerted by the tip , P₁ = F/A

and pressure exerted by the head of soft board pin , P₂ = F/1000A

now ratio of their pressures = pressure exerted by the head of soft board/pressure exerted by the tip = P₂/P₁ = (F/1000A)/(F/A) = 1 : 1000

Therefore the ratio of pressures is 1 : 1000.
