soft iron core is used as core in electromagnet,but not steel?why....

In this way, the electromagnet can be switched on and off by turning the electricity on and off. Yes,The soft ironinside the coil makes the magnetic field stronger because it becomes a magnet itself when the current is flowing. Soft iron is used because it loses its magnetism as soon as the current stops flowing.

Steel is not preferred for making electromagnet, as steel when the electric current passes, becomes a permanent magnet and retains its magnetism even when the current is turned off, unlike soft iron which loses its magnetism after the current is turned off. Hence, soft iron core is used as core in electromagnet,but not steel.
