Soil is classified based on texture colour moisture content etc. the major type of soil found in India are given below.

Explanation:

• Laterite soil- found in region of the country with heavy rainfall with an alternate dry wet period.  

• Mountain soil – it is formed due to the accumulation of the organic matter.  

• Black soil – this soil contain volcanic rocks and lava.  

• Red soil – formed due to the weathering of metamorphic and igneous rocks.

• Alluvial soil – Deposit of sediments brought by river cause this soil.

• Desert soil – region with low rainfall in an arid and semi-arid climate has this soil.

• Saline and alkaline soil – The mineral based or undecomposed contents found inside the earth’s crust sometimes ix with the subsoil to make it alkaline. The inundated seawater cause accumulation of salt in soil.

• Peat soil – high amount of organic matter in the soil in the humid region causes peat soil.
