Solid sodium carbonate was placed on a strip of Ph paper. What was the change in colour?

Sodium carbonate acts an alkali or basic because when it is made to dissolve in water it dissociates into weak acid I. e. carbonic acid and strong alkali I. e sodium hydroxide (NaOH)
The reaction occurs as following:-

Na2CO3+H2O------>NaOH+H2CO3
