Hi friend!

Solids are least compressible because they have less interarticular spaces between them because of strong force of attraction between the particles of matter.

But we see that we can easily compress sponge, why?

Sponge has air holes between it and air is in it and when we press the sponge the air is expelled out of the sponge and it compress and when we leave it then again it takes it shape back.

But sponge is a solid.

So it's the answer!!!

Hope it helps....

Solid are normally not compressible but sponge is a solid and is compressible because it has air holes in it. when we compress sponge the air goes out and the sponge is compressed. when we leave the sponge the air again comes in and sponge gains it original position.

hope this helps you...
