Solids cannot be compressed.Explain why?

Solid cannot be compressed by us because their molecules are tightly bound with each other which prevents it to compress...

Amrutanshu1: There is strong force of attraction between the particles of solids.They are held in fixed positions and don't vibrate.In solids,the particles are closely packed.The partices are not free to move.Solids do not flow.Thus solids cannot be compressed.If it would right??

Solid cannot be compressed because the molecules in solid are closely to each other .There is low intermolecular space between two molecules . Hence Solids cannot be compressed
