Hi there,

A Base is a Solute that removes hydrogen ions from a solution and acts as a proton acceptor. A base is a Negatively charged ions, and positively charged ion get attracted toward negatively charged ions. Hence it removes hydrogen ions from the solution by releasing OH ions in the Solution. Proton acceptor is an alternative to a Base.

Hope it helped.
