The probability of the hedgehog waking up early enough to cross before 7.00 a.m., is 4/5.  

To Find : Probability of  hedgehog being run over

Solution:

The probability of the hedgehog waking up early enough to cross before 7.00 a.m., is 4/5.  

=> Probability Crossing before 7 AM = 4/5

=> Probability Crossing after 7 AM = 1 - 4/5  = 1/5

probability of being run over before 7 AM  is 1/10

Hence Before 7 AM  being run over   = (4/5)(1/10)  =  4/50  

probability of being run over after 7 AM  is 3/4

Hence After  7 AM being run over = (1/5)(34)  =  3/20  

Probability of  hedgehog being run over  = 4/50  + 3/20

= (8 + 15)/100

= 23/100

= 0.23
