2x + 3y = 11 .... (i)

2x - 4y = -24 ....(ii)

Now subtract equation (ii) from (i)

(2x + 3y) - (2x - 4y) = 11 - (-24)

2x + 3y - 2x + 4y = 11 + 24

7y = 35

y = 35/7

y = 5

Now, 2x + 3y = 11

2x + 3×5 = 11

2x + 15 = 11

2x = 11 - 15

2x = -4

x = -2

Now, y = mx + 3

5 = m(-2) + 3

5 - 3 = -2m

2 = -2m

m = 2/-2

m = -1
