Step-by-step explanation:

Here,

By substitution method,

let,

2x + y = 12 .....1st equation

x + 2y = 9

x = 9 - 2y..........2nd equation

then,

putting value of x in 1st equation,

2( 9 - 2y ) + y = 12

18 - 4y + y = 12

18 -3y = 12

18 -12 = 3y

6 = 3y

y = 6/3= 2

Also,

substituting the valve of y in 1st equation,

2x + y = 12

2x + 2 = 12

2x = 10

x = 10 /2= 5

Hence,

X = 5

Y = 2 answer

2 x + y = 12

x + 2 y = 9

x =9–2 y

2(9–2 y)+ y = 12

18–4 y + y = 12

18–3 y = 12

-3 y =12- 18 =- 6

y =-6/-3 = 2

2 x+ y = 12

2 x +2 = 12

2 x = 12–2 =10

x =10/2 = 5

x = 5, y =2

hope this helps u
