2x + y = 5

x + y = 5/2

3x + 2y = 8

x + 2y = 8/3

x + y = 8/3 × 2

x + y = 8/6

x + y = 4/ 3

Answer:

Here we have, 2x + y = 5 → (1)

3x + 2y = 8 → (2)

Let Multiply, equation (1) by 2

So, 4x + 2y = 10 → (3)

Subtracting equation (3) - (2)

4x + 2y - [3x + 2y ] = 10 - 8

4x + 2y - 3x - 2y = 2

x = 2

In the equation (1), put x = 2

2 × 2 + y = 5

4 + y = 5

y = 5 - 4

y = 1
