Answer:

3 /x + 2/y = 5 ......................(i)

5/x -2/y = 7 ....................(ii)

Adding (i) and (ii),

3 /x + 2/y + 5/x -2/y = 5+7

3/x + 5/x = 12

8/x = 12/1

x = 8/12

x=2/3

substituting value of x in (i)

3*3/2+ 2/y = 5

9/2 + 2/y = 5

2/y = 5- 9/2

2/y = 1/2

y = 4

Answer

3×1/x + 2×1/y =5

5×1/x - 2×1/y=7

let 1/x = p and 1/y =q

i.e, 3p+ 2q =5 ___(1)

5p- 2q =7 ___(2)

add (1)&(2)

3p+2q+5p-2q= 5+7

8p=12

p=3/2

substitute p=3/2 in (1)

3×3/2+2q= 5

9/2+2q=5

2q= 5-9/2

2q = 1/2

q= 1/4

p= 1/x = 3/2

therefore, x= 2/3

q= 1/y =1/4

therefore, y= 4
