3x+y=13......(1)

2y-x=1......(2)

from equation (1)

y=13-3x.....(3)

put equation(3)in equation (2)

therefore

2(13-3x)-x=1

26-6x+x=1

-5x=1-26

-5x=-25

x=5

put x=5 in equation(3)

y=13-3×5

y=13-15

y =-2
