Answer:

4x + 6 / y = 15 .... (i)

3x - 4/y = 7 ..... (ii)

Multiplying (i) by 4 and (ii) by 6

16x + 24/y = 60 ..... (iii)

18x - 24/y = 42 ..... (iv)

Adding (iii) and (iv) we get

34x=102

⇒x=3

Subtracting x=3 in (i) , we get

4(3) + 6/y = 15

=> 6/y = 15 - 12

=> y = 6/3 = 2

Now, y=ax−2

⇒2=a(3)−2

⇒2=3a−2
