Answer: x=-3 and y=4

Step-by-step explanation: multiply eq 1 by 2 and eq 2 by 7 then you'll get 14x+8y=-10 and -14x+35y=182 name it eq 3 & 4 respectively add eq 3 and 4 14 will be eliminated and you'll get 43y=172 after that y=172÷43 then you'll get y=4 then substitute y=4 in eq 1 i.e 7x+4(4)=-5 which will become 7x=-5-16 which will become x=-23÷7 then you'll get x=-3

GIVEN :

=> 7X + 4Y = -5 ....................1

=> -2X + 5Y = 26 .................2

⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕

MULTIPLY 1ST EQN BY 5 ......

=> 35X + 20Y = -25 ....................3

⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕

TAKE 2ND EQN AND MAKE IT READY FOR SUBSTITUTION ......

=> -2X + 5Y = 26

=> 5Y = 26 + 2X ................4

⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕

PUT EQN 4 IN EQN 3

=> 35X + 4 ( 5Y ) = -25

=> 35X + 4 ( 26 + 2X ) = -25

=> 35X + 104 + 8X = -25

=> 43X = -25 - 104

=> 43X = - 129

=> X = -129 / 43

=> X = -3

⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕

PUT X = -3 IN EQN 1

=> 7 ( -3 ) + 4Y = -5

=> -21 + 4Y = -5

=> 4Y = -5 + 21

=> 4Y = 16

=> Y = 16/4

=> Y = 4
