Solution :-

49x - 57y = 172 ...............(1)

57x + 49y = 252 ..............(2)

Multiplying the equation (1) by 57 and equation (2) by 49, we get.

⇒ 2793x - 3249y = 9804 ...............(3)

⇒ 2793x + 2401y = 12348 ..............(4)

Now subtracting the equation (3) from (4), we get.

⇒   2793x + 2401y = 12348
      2793x - 3249y = 9804

                   5650y = 2544
_______________________

⇒ 5650y = 2544

⇒ y = 2544/5650

⇒ y = 0.45

Substituting the value of y = 0.45 in equation (1)

⇒ 49x - (57*0.45) = 172

⇒ 49x - 25.65 = 172

⇒ 49x = 172 + 25.65

⇒ 49x = 197.65

⇒ x = 197.65/49

⇒ x = 4.033

So, value of x is 4.033 and value of y is 0.45 respectively.
