take the values of one kind on either side

7.5 + 1.5 = 0.25X - 0.5X

9.0 = -0.25X

9.0/-0.25 = X

-36 = X

checking of result :-

0.5(-36) + 7.5 = 0.25(-36) - 1.5

-18 + 7.5 = -9 - 1.5

-10.5 = -10.5

=>x= - 9/0.25

so,
