QUESTION:-

5x²-4x-3=0

Solving it by method of completing the square:-

  • make coefficient of x² independent
  • so, multiply 1/5 from LHS and RHS

1/5(5x²-4x-3)=1/5(0)

=>x²-4/5x-3/5=0-----(1)

  • Now, split the middle term ..just see how I split

-4/5x = -2ax { •°• a =? , b=x}

4/5=2a

4/10=a

or,

a= 2/5

so, we find a= 2/5 and b=x

Now,

putting the splited term in eq(1):-

=>(2/5)²-2(2/5)(x)+ x²=0

=>(x-2/5)²=0

=>(x-2/5)=0

=>x=2/5

HENCE, x=2/5

I hope you understand ! .. method of completing the square

☺️✌️✌️
