Hey user
Here is your answer :-
2x^2 + ax - a^2 = 0
》2x^2 + 2ax - ax - a^2 = 0
》2x ( x + a ) - a ( x + a ) = 0
》( x + a )( 2x - a ) = 0
x + a = 0 or 2x - a = 0
x = - a or x = a/2
Thank you

Hii there!!
2x^2 + ax - a^2
( Factorising by spitting the middle term )
= 2x^2 + 2ax - ax - a^2
= 2x ( x + a ) - a ( x + a )
= ( x + a ) ( 2x - a )
Hope it helps.....
