» x² + 3x - 2 = 0

» a = 1, b = 3 and c = - 2

=> x = [-b ± √(b² - 4ac)]/2

» x = [-3 ± √(9 + 8)]/2

x =    \frac{- b  +  -   \sqrt{ {b}^{2}  - 4ac} }{2a}

x =    \frac{(- 3  +  -  \sqrt{9 - 4 \times 1 \times  - 2} )}{2 \times 1}

x =  \frac{ - 3 +  -  \sqrt{17} }{2}
