ANSWER:

  • Value of x = 4 and y = 2.

GIVEN:

  • x-2y = 0 ....(i)
  • 3x+4y -20 = 0 ....(ii)

TO FIND:

  • Value of 'x' and 'y'.

SOLUTION:

=> x-2y = 0

=> x = 2y ...(iii)

Putting x = 2y in eq (ii)

=> 3(2y)+4y = 20

=> 6y+4y = 20

=> 10y = 20

=> y = 20/10

=> y = 2

Putting y = 2 in eq(iii)

=> x = 2(2)

=> x = 4.

Value of x = 4 and y = 2

NOTE:

  • This method of finding the value of x and y is called substitution method.
