Step-by-step explanation:

Identity:

An identity is an equality which is true for

all values of a variable in the equality.

(x + a) (x +b) = x²+(a + b) x +ab

In an identity the right hand side

expression is called expanded form of the

left hand side expression.

Solution:

.

(i) Using identity,

[(x + a) (x +b) = x² + (a + b) x +ab]

In (x -3) (x + 5),

 a = -3&

b = 5

Now,

(x -3) (x + 5),

= x² + (-3+ 5)x + (-3× 5)

= x² + 2x-15
