Step-by-step explanation:

i. 2(3x -2) + 2(1 -3x) = 8+x

6x-4+2-6x=8+x

-2= 8 + x

-2-8 = x

x = -10

Check:

2[3(-10)-2] + 2[1-3(-10)] = 8 +(-10)

2(-30-2) +2(1+30) = 8 -10

2(-32) + 2(31) = -2

-64 + 62 = -2

-2 = -2

So, x = -10 is true.

ii. 3-74= -4

-71 != -4
