1/(x+1) +1/(y-1) = 4 ........... (1)

1/(x+1) + 1/(y+1) =10 ...........(2)

1/(x+1)= 10 - 1/(y+1)

1/(x+1)=(10y+ 9)/(y+1) .........(3)

put the value of 1/(x+1) in eq.( 1)

(10y + 9)/(y+1) +1/(y-1) =4

10y^2 + 10y -18 = 4y^2 -4

solve the quadratic equation and you will get the answer.
