let
2x+3y=9........eq(1)
4x+6y=15......eq(2)

2(eq(1))
=4x+6y=15

2(eq(1))-eq(2)

*. -2y= -6
*. y=3.....eq(3)

sub eq(1)in eq(3)

2x+3(3)=9
*. 2x=0
*. x=0

The values of x and y cannot be computed.

Given:

Two equations:

2x + 3y = 9

4x + 6y = 15

To Find:

The value of x and y that satisfies both the given equations.

Solution:

We have been given two equations:

2x + 3y = 9    ...........................(I)

4x + 6y = 15

or 2x + 3y = 15/2   ...........................(II)

We observe that the LHS if both the equations of lines are the same but their RHS is different.

Geometrically, the given two equations are the equation of lines that are parallel to each other. As parallel lines never intersect, there is no common solution to the given equations.

Hence the given pair of equations has no solution.

∴ The values of x and y cannot be computed.
