Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

4/x + 5y = 7 ...1

3/x + 4y = 5  .... 2

putting 1/x =  m in equation 1

4m + 5y = 7

multiply by 3 on both sides

12m + 15y = 21...3

putting 1/x = m in equation 2

3m + 4y = 2

multiplying by 4 on both sides

12m + 16y = 20 ...4

subtracting equation 4 from 3

we get, y = -1 put in equation 3

12m + 15*-1 = 21

12m - 15 = 21

12m = 36 therefore m = 3

resubstitute the value of m in equation 2, x = 1/3

3/x + 4y = 5

3/3 + 4y = 5

1 + 4y = 5

4y = 4

y = 1

x, y =  1/3 ,1     is the solution
