 =  > x + y = 10 \\   =  > y = 10 - x .....(1)\\ \\   =  > \frac{50}{100} x +  \frac{25}{100} y =  \frac{10 \times 40}{100}  \\  =  >  \frac{50x + 25y}{100}  =  \frac{400}{100}  \\  =  > 50x + 25y = 400 \\  =  > 25(2x + y) = 400 \\  =  > 2x + y = 16 .........(2)\\  \\ now \: put \: the \: value \: of \: y \: in \: equation \:  \: (2). \\  =  > 2x + y = 16 \\  =  > 2x  + 10 - x = 16 \\  =  > x = 16 - 10 \\  =  > x = 6 \\   \\ now \: put \: the \: value \: of \: x \: in \: equation \: (1). \\  =  > y = 10 - x \\  =  > y = 10 - 6 \\  =  > y = 4
